Types of Helical Piers

There are two patented types of piers used across the globe; round shaft and square shaft helical piers.

Round shaft helical piers are used in compression situations. Round shaft helical foundation piers have a steel tube shaft with a hollow circular cross-section. They have a higher section modulus and bending capacity.

Square shafts are designed for tension situations. These square shaft helical piers have great strength, better capacity to torque ratio. They are best for new constructions on firm soils compared to muddy or rocky surfaces.

These helical pairs are used to support structures where soil conditions are challenging, making it hard to set up a traditional Foundation system made of concrete.
